Dutch Hood Domestic Hanging Clock: With an anchor or recoil escapement movement and an alarm. Two hammers are used on the one bell for striking the time and the alarm. The pressed brass dial has a pomegranate in the lower corners. Above the dial is a scene with a windmill, buildings plus moon phase. In a rosewood and veneered case.
These clocks are sometimes referred to as Dutch Hoods. They were also made in surrounding countries and can date anywhere up to the 1870’s.
Not tested.
(The applied decoration over the lower window is missing. The dial has darkened.)

French Japy Frères Scenic Mantel Clock: With a T&S movement marked “Japy Frères” and numbered “15639”; a porcelain dial with bubble Roman Numerals and a blue and gold butterfly center. In a metal case with 4-toe pawed feet; a scroll and laurel garland and a painted porcelain scenic panel with a country stream on it.
(The clock is not running or chiming at this time. The hammer wants to strike but it is in the wrong position to do so. There is no pendulum or key with the clock.)

Oak Wall Hanging Dutch Hood Clock w/ Alarm. 10 in. painted metal dial has black Roman hour numerals and 5 minute numbers outside, repousse brass bezel & corner spandrels, hand painted arched top with scenic lake view, pierced brass hands and brass alarm indicator disc. Brass weight driven movement with recoil escapement, fancy turned posts, half hour strike with steel bell at the top of the movement, separate bell above for alarm strike and brass covered weight. In good running condition. In an oak case with arched bonnet top, carved Chronos w/ globe center finial and winged angel side finials, the lower section with pierced carved corbeled supports and backboard panel with oval cutout with brass urn overlay exposing the pendulum bob swinging behind the wood backboard. Cleaned and enhanced finish, figures are replaced. 58 in. high x 14 in. wide x 8 in. deep.
