Walter Durfee 9 Tube Mahogany Grandfather Clock Pattern No. 5. Large brass dial has a 12 in. silvered chapter ring with applied brass hour numbers, silvered sub seconds dial, moon phase with silvered arch, sub dials for Chime/Silent & Westminster/Bow bells, fancy pierced gilt brass filigree decorated center and corner spandrels, pierced hands and signed by the retailer ÂTiffany & Co. New YorkÂ; brass weight driven movement has Graham deadbeat escapement with jeweled pallets, retaining power, quality brass weights, pulleys and pendulum bob with steel pendulum stick and 9 silvered tubes signed ÂWalter H. Durfee & Co. Providence, RIÂ, movement is signed on the back plate ÂWalter H. Durfee, Providence, RI & ÂWalter H. Durfee on the top edge of the back plate. The mahogany case has an arched crest with pierced carved seashell, bell flower and ribbon design, turned finials, leaf carving and spiral turned columns with beveled glass on the bonnet door; the body of the case has long turned fluted columns with leaf carving, mullioned beveled glasses on the door, lions head escutcheon and inset panel on the base with filigree, bellflower and ribbon carving all standing on large claw feet. Has an enhanced original finish; silvered presentation plaque behind the door is addressed to ÂDaniel Boone, St. Louis, MO, by the New York Life Insurance Company, August 1, 1895Â. 99 in. high x 23 in. wide x 15 in. deep.
