An unusual brass rolling ball skeleton clock. Having a 9.75″ Roman chapter ring with wax-filled engraved numerals and outer minute track, framing a chain-driven single-fusee timepiece movement beneath a tilting zig-zig track, on a cruciform frame supported by two cast clenched fists, 10.25″, (26cm) high, the blue plush-lined pine oval base with glass dome.

Congreve Rolling Ball Clock, (ProClocks Replica, made in China). Case has brass plates supported by turned brass posts with finials on the corners and brass feet which are threaded for balancing the clock and center finial at the top; 2 in. porcelain minutes dial, 1.5 in. sub hour and seconds dial indicating 20 seconds which is the amount of time it takes for the ball to travel from one side of the track to the other acting as the clocks pendulum; has a single cable fusee mechanism powering the clock which is in good running condition. Walnut base with inlaid sides and drawer front with cubed glass dome having gilt brass framework and an access door in the front. 18 in. high x 13.25 in. wide x 1.75 in. deep.

Thwaites & Reed Rolling Ball Clock. c.1950’s. Case has a mahogany base with felt top, brass tubular posts and railing with spherical brass finials, a long slanted track on top of the case feeds the 35 silvered spherical steel balls down into a double disk spoked paddle wheel below, the weight of the ball rotates the wheel clockwise which drives the clock movement; when the ball reaches the bottom of the wheel it is dropped down through a brass cylinder and directed into the felt covered reserve area below. 5.75 in. silvered dial has black incised Roman hour numerals, brass disc center, brass signature tag for ÂThwaites & Reed, London, England and has pierced black hands; brass weight driven movement has a platform lever escapement signed ÂChs. Gorge, SA. Switzerland and is in good running condition. Beautiful clock, all original, in good condition and has a cubed plexi glass dome top. Clock is wound by replacing the balls back on top of the track. 11.5 in. high x 8.5 in. wide x 8.5 in. deep.
