A mid 20th century Chelsea Banjo clock retailed by "Hardy & Hayes Co., Pittsburgh". 8-day time only movement with a painted metal dial and Roman numerals, serial # "165112". Mahogany case with Brass finial, original reverse painted throat flanked by shaped Brass side arms and Mount Vernon lower glass. Original finish with some wear, chips in finial plinth, dial wear, wound tight, not running when cataloged. 32" high. ESTIMATE $300-400

Original 7 in. painted metal dial signed ÂChelsea Clock Co., Boston, U.S.A.Â, has black incised hour numbers and blued hands; brass 8 day spring driven time only movement signed ÂChelsea Clock Co., Boston, U.S.A. numbered 168210, has a lever escapement. In a mahogany banjo presentation style case having a gilt brass eagle finial, brass door bezel, pierced brass side arms, lower presentation bracket with fluted carving, turned spherical mounts and acorn finial; reverse painted throat glass with filigree, eagle and shield, reverse painted tablet with ship scene commemoration PerryÂs Victory at Lake Erie 1813. In good overall condition, has some inpainting on the dial, some paint flaking on the reverse painted glasses, movement is not running, case has an overcoated finish. 42 in. high x 10 in. wide x 4.25 in. deep.

In a mahogany banjo style case with gilt brass eagle finial, brass door bezel, pierced brass side arms, presentation lower bracket with fluted carving, turned spherical mounts and acorn teardrop finial; reverse painted throat glass with gilt filigree, reverse painted tablet view of the Mt. Vernon estate. In good condition, running and striking, original finish. 32 in. high x 8 in. wide x 3 in. deep.

In a mahogany case with brass door bezel, gilt brass eagle finial, scroll carved throat, presentation style base with turned spherical mounts; reverse painted throat glass with gilt eagle & arrow perched on a tall column, tablet is reverse painted with a harbor scene commemoration the ÂBoston Tea Party, 1775Â. In good overall condition, glasses are overpainted, case has and enhanced original finish. 38 in. high x 11 in. wide x 4 in. deep.

In a mahogany banjo style case with gilt brass eagle finial, brass door bezel, pierced brass side arms, presentation lower bracket with fluted carving, turned spherical mounts and acorn teardrop finial; reverse painted throat glass with gilt eagle, shield & filigree, reverse painted tablet with battle scene depicting the U.S.S. Constitution and the HMS Guerriere in the battle of 1812. In good condition, holes in dial & back plate do not all line up, has Chelsea instruction booklet and presentation plaque inside of the case to ÂJohn G. Stewart, 1950-1970, for a job well done, our deepest appreciation, W.W.E.M.A.Â. 32 in. high x 8 in. wide x 3 in. deep.

Mahogany case with Eagle finial, cast Brass upper door and arms, original reverse painted “Constitution” glasses in throat and lower door. Minor wear, replaced weight, lacks weight baffle, crack in bottom board, running when cataloged. 32 1/2″ high.

Mahogany case has typical banjo form with fluted tapering bracket, teardrop finial, turned presentation spheres, brass eagle finial, brass bezel and pierced brass side arms; reverse painted throat glass, reverse painted Mt. Vernon door glass. Movement is in good running condition, case is original finish and good condition, glasses are original and in very good condition with no losses or inpainting. 30 in. high
