This hexagonal horizontal table clock from Wroclaw is a true masterpiece of its kind. Clocks like these were mostly manufactured for rich councilmen or tradesmen, which then adorned their writing desks as representative object of prestige. At that time, clocks were regarded as very special technical works of wonder that held an astounding fascination, the six lateral windows here enable a view on the movement.
Condition:
The fascinating timepiece is in a very good condition consistent with age. The surfaces of the case are rubbed in places. Some applications are slightly loose. Lock and hinge of the box and cover are presumably renewed. The interior lining is heavily worn and the outer leather cover is partially heavily rubbed. A winding key is not included. The dimensions of the table clock measure c. 10.2 x 14.2 x 12 cm, the dimensions of box and cover are c. 13.2 x 16.5 x 15.5 cm. During in house testing, the clock was fully functional; no guarantee on long-term precision and regularity.
