Brass French Industrial Lighthouse Clock. The brass lighthouse tower has a graphite finish with an incised staggered geometric pattern resembling the bricks or stones that make up the tower, also has a raised section in the base that resembles a door with windows on either side and 2 more windows in the midsection. 2.25 in. Enamel dial has black Roman numerals with spade and diamond hands, round brass spring driven movement is in working condition. 21 in. high

French Industrial Animated Lighthouse Clock. The top of the light tower has a silvered finish with a timepiece on the front, thermometers left and right and a barometer on the back. Driven from a separate movement in the base of the tower, the top section oscillates clockwise showing the 4 sides. The time only hairspring movement has a silvered 2.25 in. dial matching that of the barometer on the reverse and they both have a gilt bezel with beveled glass. The gilt body has a nice finish with incised brickwork replicating the structure of the tower with copper colored windows and door. 17 in. high x 6.5 in. dia.

French Industrial Animated Lighthouse Clock. Gilt polished brass case in the form of a lighthouse with cylindrical base, conical stem, spindled walkway above and double sided rotating top; stands on an ebonized wood base with separate spring driven mechanism powering the animated top and winding through the hinged front door. The front has a 3.25 in. porcelain dial with black Roman hour numerals, black hands, beaded door bezel with beveled crystal. Brass spring driven 8 day movement running on a cylinder escapement; the reverse has a 3.25 in. porcelain dial for the Aneroid barometer with open center, Centigrade & Fahrenheit stick thermometers on the left and right. In good condition, each mechanism is running, has key for animated mechanism. 22 in. high.

Popular in the 1870s, the French industrial clocks were both mechanically clever and meticulously made. This lighthouse clock stands 22″, making it a larger model. When running the model Fresno light atop the structure oscillates on the half seconds, acting as the pendulum of the clock which displays the time below. The cast brass components are silvered, gilt, and sometimes patinated.

Silver plated bronze case in the form of a spherical boiler with industrial instruments and gears on the round platform, has a beveled glass in the top of the sphere with manual scroll month calendar and silvered dial below with calendar aperture showing the date and thermometer in the top stack. 1.5 in. porcelain dial has black Roman hour numerals, elegant pierced decorated hands; brass 8 day spring driven time only movement with cylinder escapement, in running condition, dial has hairlines. 15.25 in. high x 8.25 in. dia. With an excellent pair of matching candlesticks, all in very nice condition. 9 in. high. Weight: 12.25 lbs.

A late 19th C. French made Industrial “Lighthouse” clock. The bronze and silvered and gold plated modeled lighthouse is mounted with a round white dialed timepiece whose mechanism is run by a duplex clock escapement, wherein the modeled “light” oscillates back and forth with a half seconds beat.
