Serpentine Biedermeier 2 Weight Vienna Regulator, c.1855. Has a 7 in. inset porcelain dial with black Roman hour numerals and fancy pierced black hands, brass piecrust bezel; brass 8 day weight driven movement has an half hour strike on a coiled gong, long wood pendulum stick and brass covered bob, brass 4 spoke pulleys and brass covered weights. In an unusual rosewood serpentine Biedermeier style case with broken pediment crest having a turned finial, half columns on the door and carved lower bracket; enhanced original finish is in good general condition, dial has a few minor hairlines, glasses are replaced. Wax seal stamps on the back of the case, one reads “Herbert Bednarik Collection, Wien” and the other is a coat of arms. 44 in. high x 12 in. wide x 4.25 in. deep.
