Benjamin Simkin London Antique (18C) Mantle Clock

Antique circa late 18th Century English mantle or bracket clock. Single handle over large hand carved wooden Georgian case with profuse gilt embellishments. Front and rear doors with large glass windows. Dial face stamped STRIKE SILENT BENJN. SIMKIN LONDON with both Roman and Arabic numerals, and incised scrolling and floral decoration. Back of movement with elaborate incised floral forms and large central monogram BS (Benjamin Simkin). Plinth base with ogee bracket feet. From the estate of Sally Ann Howes (1930-2021), Tony Award nominated actor and star of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
