Bawo & Dotter Carved Mahogany Grandfather Clock. 12 in. painted metal dial with black Roman hour numerals, 5 minute numbers outside, inner calendar ring, black hands, sweep seconds hand and moon phase dial at the top; dial is painted on the corner spandrels with seated female figures on a scenic background, scenic & seascape views on the moon phase disc. Brass 8 day weight driven movement signed with trade mark “B&D” over “Elite, 179811”, has a Graham deadbeat escapement, half hour strike on a bell at the top of the movement, brass pulleys, brass covered weights and a brass covered pendulum bob with long steel stick. In a mahogany case having an arched top on the bonnet, turned brass finial, inset reverse painted & gold leaf filigree panels on the arch and turned columns with brass capitols; the case body has turned quarter columns, large raised door panel, pierced carved border panels and stands on elegant ball & claw feet. In very good condition, case has a beautiful enhanced original finish, has some losses to the pierced carved borders; c.1890-1910, dial and reverse painted panels are very clean. 99.5 in. high x 20 in. wide x 10.5 in. deep.
