Austrian Silk Thread Wall Clock. 6 in. silvered dial signed ÂJoh. Martin Artz, MuchenÂ, has black incised Roman hour numerals, fluer de lis half hour markers and 5 minute numbers outside; brass 8 day spring driven silk thread movement has square brass plates, unsigned, with an hour strike on a bell and silvered crescent moon face pendulum bob. In a gilt carved wall hanging picture frame case with glass front door panel, applied brass filigree corner spandrels and eagle with grapevine patter around the open aperture below which exposes the swinging pendulum. Case is in excellent condition with original gilt finish, door glass has a chip in the upper right corner, clock is running and striking though the bell is broken off. 20.25 in. high x 16 in. wide x 5.25 in. deep. Weight: 13.25 lbs.

Austrian Silk String Musical Mantle Clock: the hours and quarter hours are struck on 2 bells. A small bell attached to the back plate is for the alarm. The music box in the case’s bottom is attached to the movement by a chord. It can be activated at any time the string is pulled. The porcelain dial with 4 key slots is 5 1/2″ wide. The music box is wound on the case’s lower left side. 2 keys are with it.

(The dial has minor problems. The gold portions have been repainted.

A 19″ silver and gold plated two pillar mantel clock decorated all over with vines, etc. and having a cylindrical music box mounted inside the wood base. The clock is fit with a glass shade or cover, although now with a repaired break.

Gl;ass cover has repaired break. Unless otherwise stated the condition of the mechanisms of these clocks is good, but that does not mean they run or do not need repairs. There is no guarantee of either the mechanical performance of clocks nor the completeness and originality of their parts and components. In most cases we have not removed the dials from these clocks, and have not checked inside for manufacturers or makers names for attribution.
