Atkins & Downs Wood Works Shelf Clock, T & S: Has a painted wood dial; there is a Colonial city scene on the lower door; has a good interior label marked “Atkins & Downs Made for G. Mitchell & R. Atkins”; has the key, weight and pendulum.

Not tested.

There are rubs to the case. There is some veneer and wood loss on the lower edge.)

Atkins & Downs Wood Works Shelf Clock: 8 day wood works, weight driven time with bell strike and a 10″ wood dial. In a mahogany and veneer case with stacked columns, cornucopia carved splat and mirror front. The case is nice looking; with legible interior label.

(The mirror is a replacement. Not running properly. The pendulum’s wire rod is fairly long, but still does not have room to swing wide enough for the escapement to operate properly. 1 trim piece is missing above the columns.)

Mitchell Atkins Column and Splat Shelf Clock, c. 1830’s. Mahogany case with acanthus carved columns and carved cornucopia splat, claw feet, label “Improved clocks, Manufactured by Atkins and Downs for Mitchell Atkins, Bristol, CT”. Brass works weight driven clock, hand painted dial, mirrored tablet, slight crack on top glass and slight veneer loss. Measures 35 1/2″ tall x 17″ wide x 4″ deep.
