George Jones NY Astronomical Wall Regulator. Walnut and burl veneer case with ladies head. One weight astronomical painted metal 16″ dial and 3 tube simulated mercury pendulum, signed in bright on the pendulum frame- George Jones & Co. at No.5 Courtland St. NY. Case is 90 1/2″long and 33 3/4″ wide. Made circa pre 1872. Case has an old refinish job, some veneer is bubbly and loose. The clock is running at this time.

Rosewood Vienna Regulator w/ Astronomical Dial Having Mean Time & Sidereal Time. 9 in. porcelain dial singed ÂD. Endler, in Prag has 2 sub dials measuring 4 in. dia., the upper mean time sub dial has 24 hour numbers and chapter ring with 60 minute markers, the upper dial has a sub seconds dial inside with nice pierced hour and minute hands and reads ÂMorgem Abend, Wahre Mittlere Sonenzeit, MitternachtÂ; the lower sidereal time 24 hour sub dial has 60 minute markers, inner ring with zodiac names and symbols, singed ÂSterne ZeitÂ, dial has a gilt brass piecrust bezel. Brass single weight driven time only 30 day movement with long ebonized wood pendulum stick, brass covered bob, pierced brass 5 spoke pulley and brass covered weight. In a rosewood case with arched top, carved corners on the door and carved lower bracket. Has an enhanced original finish, 2 spider hairlines in the dial. Mean time or Âsolar time is based on the earthÂs rotation of 360 degrees lasting 24 hours; Sidereal time, meaning ÂStar TimeÂ, is based on the earthÂs rotation around the sun in which it includes the 360 degree rotation of the earth plus about 1 degree more to compensate for the EarthÂs orbit around the sun. A side real day is approximately 23 hours & 56 Minutes which translates to 0ne solar second = 1.00278 sidereal seconds. 57 in. high x 16 in. wide.

Circa 1880 English Unsigned 8 day Wall Clock with 10″ Good original silvered astronomical dial, Original weight driven brass time only movement, Fine English astronomical regulator in Charles Eastlake designed oak case. Two jar mercury pendulum is original. Very good condition with minor wear to dial and normal wear to case, movement needs cleaning, lower bracket base has been added. 68″H x 20″W x 11″D
