Brewster and Ingrahams gothic steeple clock with refinished mahogany case, 8-day time and strike brass movement having the original brass mainsprings, glasses have been replaced, original painted dial, pendulum bob and club hands, door latch and escutcheon are replacements, full label inside the case, running. Brass springs were used in the early to mid-1840's as an alternative to steel mainsprings. The brass springs were not as reliable, and their use was quickly dropped. Finding a clock with these original ones is rare. 19 in. high x 11 in. wide x 4 in. deep.

Gothic Arch Steeple Mantle Clock w/ Alarm. 6 in. painted metal dial with black Roman hour numerals, open center exposing the alarm indicator disc; brass spring driven movement has an hour strike in a coiled gong and separate alarm mechanism in the base striking a brass bell, has a brass covered pendulum bob and movement signed Brewester & Ingrahams, Bristol, Ct. U.S. In a gothic arched onion top rosewood case with turned double columns under conical finials on the sides with frosted and cut glass tablet in the door, paper label in the back of the case for J.J. Beals & Co.Âs Clock Establishment. Case has an overcoated finish and is in good overall condition with a few light chips to the finials and repaired minute hand.19.5 in. high x 11.75 in. wide x 2.75 in. deep.
