Mahogany case with an arched top; has gilt brass mounts and trim, the front panel depicts a woman kneeling beside an obelisk and a birdcage, a bird lays in the hay beside her. 5 in. porcelain dial with cobalt border, black Roman hour numerals, Arabic 5 minute markers and is signed Laplace a Paris. Round brass silk thread movement has a count wheel strike mechanism and strikes on a bell; dial has some minor faint hairlines. 19 in. high.
