DESCRIPTION: A french "Cupid Chariot" bronze & marble mantel clock. This is an antique French Napoleon III period burnished gilt bronze mantel clock over a marble vert pedestal base. The subject is of cupid riding a fine chariot drawn by a pair of horses. The front side of the base is mounted with applied bronze mounts referring to cupid, such as his bow, the torch of everlasting love and his quiver of arrows. The movement is set in the chariot wheel. It is stamped with the Medaille D'Argent 1855, Vincent & Cia.
