A 19th century French cast brass mantel clock. Japy Freres, retailed by Raison & Thomas. Having a 3.5″ cellular Roman dial with foliate scroll centre, the two-train movement with Japy Freres exhibition stamp, numbered 1035, and stamped “ANC’NE M’ON FRANJUS RAISON & THOMAS SUCCESSEURS”, the case with cast pine cone finial over swan neck pediment and pierced waisted body with winged female terms and central figure raised on scroll feet, the sides with hinged leaf-cast supports, 16″, (40.5 cm) high.

Condition

Dial – chipping to numeral V. Greenish residue around III-IIII. Movement – in good order but no bell, nut or pendulum. Case – good throughout. Fellows do not guarantee the working order or accuracy of any clocks sold.

A late 19th century French cast brass wall clock with thermometer, having 4.5″ white enamelled Roman dial with moon hands, the two-train bell-striking movement with lever platform escapement, the cast case surmounted by a basket of fruit over zoomorphic foliate scrolls issuing flaming torches and flanking an ethanol thermometer, marked “THERMOMETRE”, with Centigrade and Reaumur scale over spiral terminal, the rear cast “DEPOSE” and “LG”, 24.5″ (62cm) high, sold with winder.

Condition

Dial – flake chips around winding squares (especially right), faint crack over hands, haircracking around III, IX and XII. Movement – sound. Case-some minor rusting to surmount, minor cracks to thermometer plate, tarnishing to rear cover and bruising to rim of rear cover.
