Ansonia Oak Mantle Clock  Monarch w/ Alarm. 5 in. paper dial signed ÂAnsonia Clock Co., New YorkÂ, with black hands, Roman hour numerals and heavy cast gilt brass bass bezel; brass 8 day spring driven movement signed ÂAnsonia Clock Co., New YorkÂ, has a half hour strike on a coiled gong and separate alarm mechanism striking a brass bell, 1 jar faux mercury pendulum bob with brass mounts. In an oak case with turned urn finial over a spelter maidenÂs head mount, carved crest and side corbels with a single drawer in the base. In good condition, running and striking, has a partial ÂMonarch label on the back, case is refinished. 24.5 in. high x 15.5 in. wide x 5.75 in. deep.

American James Cross, Rochester, New Hampshire Weight Striking Shelf Clock, Circa 1810, 7 1/2″ original signed painted dial, 8-day, finely made brass movement with bell strike, early Federal period shelf clock, provincial mahogany case with pine secondary wood in an old finish, swan’s neck pediment, kidney shaped door over dial has folk art reverse painted tablet, old but not original to clock, lower door opens to view pendulum, retains original brass escutcheon, good original condition, feet restored has that wonderful aroma that collectors love to find when opening the clocks door, quite rare to find these very early striking shelf clocks. Height 40″.
