Animated French Industrial Quarter Deck Clock. Black marble, polished gilt bronze & brass “Quarter Deck” case with a sailor below and the captain at the stern, steering the ship. The railings, compass and lanterns are at the top deck, a ladder leads to the lower deck. The captain figure is connected to an “X” suspension with a compound pendulum bob below, he rocks back and forth steering the ship as the pendulum swings. The 8 day brass movement is signed ÂA.D. MouginÂ, numbered 5253-81 and strikes the half hour on a bell. In good overall condition, missing compass insert & the crossed suspension spring needs repair. 12 in. high x 11.5 in. wide x 9 in. deep.

French Animated Locomotive Industrial Clock. Excellent bronze case in the form of a steam locomotive on a black marble base with rails, has a stick thermometer on the front of the funnel and large 3 in. paper dial compass in the top, aneroid barometer with 2.5 in. silvered dial mounted in the boiler and timepiece mounted on the side of the cab; wheels are animated by an independent spring driven movement mounted under the train, has cow catcher in the front. Timepiece has a 3.5 in. silvered dial with black hour numbers, brass door bezel with beveled crystal, round brass 8 day spring driven movement has a platform lever escapement and half hour strike on a bell; running, clock strikes, animated mechanism is functional. 16.5 in. high x 20 in. wide x 9 in. deep. Weight: 31.25 lbs.

Fancy brass case in the form of a nautical bollard post, wrapped with rope, has chain, anchor and block and tackle, on a green onyx base; the top portion of the case has 4 champleve columns around a cylinder with arched enamel decorated dome top shading a compass. The top section of the case has a spring driven mechanism contained within the base which rotates clockwise; 4 silvered dial measuring 2.5 in. dia. for time, temperature Fahrenheit, temperature Centigrade and aneroid barometer. Brass 8 day spring driven movement is in running condition, animated mechanism is in running condition and has key; unusual clock. 20.25 in. high x 8.75 in. dia. Weight: 21.5 lbs.

French Industrial Animated Lighthouse Clock. Gilt polished brass case in the form of a lighthouse with cylindrical base, conical stem, spindled walkway above and double sided rotating top; stands on an ebonized wood base with separate spring driven mechanism powering the animated top and winding through the hinged front door. The front has a 3.25 in. porcelain dial with black Roman hour numerals, black hands, beaded door bezel with beveled crystal. Brass spring driven 8 day movement running on a cylinder escapement; the reverse has a 3.25 in. porcelain dial for the Aneroid barometer with open center, Centigrade & Fahrenheit stick thermometers on the left and right. In good condition, each mechanism is running, has key for animated mechanism. 22 in. high.

French Industrial Animated Windmill Clock. Conical form, the front is mounted with 4 windmill blades rotating clockwise running on an independent movement winding in the rear. The body of the case has a textured surface resembling a stone structure with pierced brass railing along the walkway, windows & front door, stands on a black marble base. 3.5 in. silvered dial of the timepiece with black hour numerals and black hands; round brass 8 day spring driven time only movement with platform lever escapement under an aneroid barometer with 3 in. silvered dial and thermometers on either side. Timepiece is not running, animated mechanism is in good working condition with minor repair to the blades, weathervane missing 2nd arrow (should have crossed arrows). 28 in. high x 10.75 in. dia.

Rare French Industrial Animated Windmill Clock. Conical form, the front is mounted with 4 windmill blades rotating clockwise. The mid-section has a textured surface resembling a stone structure. The front center shows the round silvered 2 in. dial of the timepiece under a aneroid barometer with thermometers on either side. The lower base has a smooth brass finish and is accented with 2 faux windows and a trap door in between, which reveals the wind for the animated mechanism, all over a black marble platform base and weathervane top. In good original condition, 18 in. high x 7 in. dia.

Tri-tone bronze and rouge marble case in the form of a steam pump engine with piston in the center front driven by the large flywheel and governor assembly at the top with pierced baluster gallery having acorn finials, pierced corbels, 4 round columns and square marble columns; the body of the case has an incised brick design with 2.5 in. silvered dial aneroid barometer on the left, 2.5 in. silvered time dial to the right signed ÂJ.E. Caldwell & Co., PhiladelphiaÂ with thermometers in between. Has a brass 8 day spring driven movement with platform lever escapement and strikes on a coiled gong. In working condition, has a nice gilt, silvered & brown patina. 16.5 in. high x 14.75 in. wide x 8.5 in. deep.
