Tilley & Son, Dorchester, an unusual carved oak chiming bracket clock, leaf and dart carved molding below a frieze with foliate carving, bordered above by a gadrooned band, the door also with foliate border and flanking consoles with grotesque masks and botanical drops, the gadrooned cornice molding below a stepped dome top, the lower portion with green man masks and acanthus, and the upper with simple foliate carving, the case sides with egg and dart trimmed frets, having naturalistic carving and central mask, signed roman numeral composite dial with matted center, gilt spandrels, and blued steel hands, the arch with subsidiary dials for chime control and regulation, three train, 8 day movement, chiming quarters on four or eight gongs, the hour counted on a larger, ninth gong

Winterhalder & Hofmeier Mahogany Bracket Clock. 5.5 in. silvered dial has black incised Roman hour numerals, engraved filigree design outside and 3 sub dials at the top for beat adjustment, Chime/Silent, Chime on 8 Bells/Chime on 4 Gongs; quality brass spring driven movement has a progressive quarter hour strike either on a nest of 8 bells or progressive Westminster on 5 gongs with a large cathedral gong striking the hour, brass pendulum, in good running condition and signed W. & H. Sch. Mahogany bracket case has an arched top with gilt brass handle, brass feet and brass inlays on the chamfered fluted door corners; quarter hour repeater string on the left side. Case refinished, clock runs and strikes. 13 in. high x 10 in. wide x 7.5 in. deep.

In an ebonized case with brass finials, corner & front mounts, pierced side panels and scrolled feet. In good overall condition and running. 18.5 in. high x 12 in. wide x 9 in. deep.

Brass dial has a 4.5 in. silvered chapter ring with black incised Roman hour numerals and 4 minute numbers outside, beat regulator sub dial above and fancy gilt pierced filigree mounts; brass spring driven movement with quarter hour strike on 2 coiled gongs, has a brass pendulum and signed W. & H. Sch. In an oak case with gilt metal mounts, finials, feet, handles and maidens on the corners. Excellent original finish. 17 in. high x 9.75 in. wide x 7.25 in. deep.
