American Double Dial Calendar Pinwheel Regulator. 11 in. Jerome & Co. paper dial with silvered bezel, has black Roman hour numerals, and fancy sub ring with days of the week (this function is not used in this clock), spade hands and sweep seconds hand. The unusual brass weight driven movement has silvered plates, pinwheel escapement, unusual rack & snail strike mechanism, maintaining power and hour strike on a coiled gong. Has 2 heavy brass weights with quality pulleys and cut glass mercurial pendulum with steel rod. (there is no mercury in the jar). The lower calendar mechanism has a Jerome & Co. 11 in. paper dial with silvered bezel, 31 date outer ring with Arabic numbers and fancy inner ring with months of the year; the Jerome & Co. perpetual calendar mechanism is inset into the backboard of the case and the dial sits flush against the back, silver plated identification plaque between the dials reads B.J. Martin Maker 1876. In a beautiful period carved walnut floor standing case with turned finials on the scalloped crest, applied rosettes and raised panels with corbeled sides and raised panels in the base. Clock is in very good condition and original finish. 91.5 in. high x 28.5 in. wide x 12 in. deep.
