Invented by Eli Terry, Made and Sold at Plymouth, Connecticut by Eli Terry, Jun’r.”. Wooden works, weight driven, key wind, pendulum clock. Many Eli Terry Clocks which depict a home or building on the reverse painted glass tablet, are actual homes in the Town of Plymouth and surrounding Connecticut towns of the time period. Eli Terry Column & Splat Mantle Clock. Painted wood dial has a 10 in. chapter ring with black Arabic hour numbers and gilt decorated corners, pierced hands (minute hand repaired); wooden works weight driven movement with count wheel strike mechanism with bell, iron weights and brass covered pendulum bob. In a mahogany case with arched crest, ebonized half columns and claw feet, reverse painted tablet. Case is refinished and has some repairs to the mahogany veneer, dial has a hairline in the upper right corner through the screw hole and the door glass has a stress crack at the bottom edge. 28 in. high x 17.5 in. wide x 4 in. deep.
