Winterhalder & Hofmeier, Germany, a very rare, large quarter chiming bracket clock, the oak case on a molded base, the glazed door with break arch aperture and carved foliate scroll spandrels and flanked by chamfered corners with lambs tongue stops, the molded top surmounted by a dome with carved front featuring a swag, fruit, and foliage, all on a stippled ground and below a molded plinth, the sides with molded frame doors and wooden frets, and the back door fitted with bevelled glass, roman numeral silvered dial with art nouveau inspired spandrels, and subsidiary dials for chime control and regulation, the arch displaying phases of the moon, fancy blued steel hands, very substantial 8 day, three train fusee movement with dead beat escapement, sounding the quarters on four or eight tubes, and striking the hour on a ninth tube, with pull repeat, together with its original large, carved oak shelf

Winterhalder & Hofmeier Ebonized Bracket Clock. 5.5 in. silvered dial signed “Durrant & Son, 40 Cheapside, London” with brass back plate and mounted gilt filigree spandrels, 2 in. sub dial above; quality square brass 8 day spring driven movement signed “W&H” for Winterhalder & Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach, Germany, has a quarter hour strike on 2 coiled gongs and a brass pendulum. In an ebonized case with brass finials, corner & front mounts, pierced side panels and scrolled feet. In good overall condition and running. 18.5 in. high x 12 in. wide x 9 in. deep.

Carved mahogany case has a 4 sided domed top with roof having shingle style panels, turned corner finials, half spindle turned gallery border, figural maiden pilaster busts, beveled glass side panels and brass door with beveled glass front. Brass dial has a 5 in. silvered chapter ring with black incised Roman numerals, fancy pierced hands and gilt repousse corner spandrels; brass spring driven movement signed W&H Sch. (Winterhalder & Hofmeier) with brass pendulum and quarter hour strike on 2 coiled gongs. Movement winds, is running & striking, has crank; case has a an old overcoated finish, missing rear finials and the right carved figure has a repair. 19.5 in. high x 13 in. wide x 8 in. deep.

Sch. In an oak case with gilt metal mounts, finials, feet, handles and maidens on the corners. Excellent original finish. 17 in. high x 9.75 in. wide x 7.25 in. deep.
