Chippendale Carved Walnut Tall Case Clock
John Solliday, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, circa 1770
The scrolled molded cornice ending in carved rosettes above an engraved brass and silvered dial with a bird in the arch above the chapter ring and maker's name "John Salate [sic]" and brass eight-day weight-driven movement below above a waist with narrow carved door flanked by fluted corner columns on base with cyma curved panel flanked by spiral carved corner columns all on ogee bracket base. Height 8 feet, width 19 inches, depth 9 1/2 inches.

Otto Steiner was a Austro-Hungarian clock maker that described himself as the only clockmaker in Vienna from 1877 to 1893. This beautiful carved walnut case with year long movement has the original weights and pendulum. Condition shows some missing gingerbread to the interior carving, and some old repair to the trim around the clock face. A very collectable tall case clock, and worthy of a mechanical restoration. Condition: (Good). Dimensions: Largest: 68" x 25 – 1/2" x 12 – 1/2".

dial inscribed "William Hudson, Mount Holly", Mount Holly, New Jersey, circa 1775, engraved arched brass dial with applied spandrels, moon phase, seconds sweep, and date aperture, eight day brass movement, case with broken arch pediment with carved rosettes and turned finials, waisted case with mellow old surface, shaped door flanked by fluted quarter columns, paneled base with ogee bracket feet, finely figured and bookmatched base panel, two weights, winder, and pendulum present, 94-1/2 x 21-1/2 x 11 in.
