Large 19C French Gilt Bronze Figural Clock by Lamerle-Charpentier & Cie., Paris. The beautiful sitting statue of maiden holding the mask. On black marble base. Signed on dial. Movement stamped " Lemerle Charpentier / Fant De Bronzes /185 /Paris". Size: 22 1/2" ( 57 cm ) height, 13 1/2" ( 34,2 cm ) width, 8 1/4" ( 21 cm ) depth. Condition very good. In working order. Louis XVI gilt bronze and marble figural clock entitled "Allegory of Study" or "The Geoffrin Clock", signed on the white enamel dial Charpentier and Cie, Paris, Rue Charlot 8. All set on a raised base with scrolled foliage panel. Majority of original gilt decoration has been lost. Accompanied by a pair of allegorical garnitures, one with loss, but is included.
