A German Mahogany Veneered Wall Clock

A miniature olive-wood veneered striking table clock
The movement signed for Henricus Jones, Londini. Probably late 19th/early 20th century.
The case with caddy top surmounted by a brass knopped handle and side mounts over a plain moulded cornice and rectangular glazed side panels on a stepped base with ebonised section on bun feet (the rear door glazed and veneered on all sides of the frame). The 4.75 inch square dial with engraved foliage to each corner, framing the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with narrow Arabic five-minute track interspersed with typical dots, around dotted trefoil half hour markers, finely matted centre with chamfered date aperture and blued steel hands. The twin gut fusee movement with thick plates united by three square-section pillars and two knopped and finned pillars, all pinned to the frontplate, the going train with knife edge verge escapement, the strike train with outside countwheel, signed in a lambrequin 'Henricus Jones Londini', with engraved border, and clicks with stopwork mounted on the backplate. German Mahogany Wall Clock: time and gong striking movement with fancy 6 1/2″ dial. The pendulum has 5 rods and decorative brass bob. The case is fancy with open gallery to view the pendulum in action. No marks found, but is the quality of Gustav Becker.

56 1/2″ long, strikes the hour only, running at this time.

(The door glass looks to be replaced. There is a slight wood separation on the trim around the door glass.)

German Mahogany Free Swinger Wall Clock: With a gong striking movement and a metal dial. In a mahogany case with applied leaf decoration. The 5 rod pendulum has a bulls eye center on the ball. Both springs are good and strong.
