An early 19th century Sylvester Clark(e) Salem Bridge, Conn. Empire Period shelf clock. 8-day Brass, weight driven horizontal time & strike movement with seconds bit and painted metal dial. Mahogany case with carved cornucopia crest and paw feet, single door with lower reverse painted glass (Tom Moberg replacement). Older refinishing with wear, replaced lower glass panel, lacks some toes on feet, runs momentarily when cataloged. 32 1/2″ high.

An eight day time and strike on bell movement with unusual calendar reading through a small opening in the front painted iron tablet, a moon phase dial in that same area. Signed Gerrit ??? Amsterdam on a brass tab bottom edge of dial. The walnut veneer case with ormolu base trim and brass feet, bas relief carved wood undulating outline door frame, original scroll cut hour hand and serpent form hand cit minute hand, applied ormolu ornament on the top bracket, ormolu trim there as well and a Hepplewhite style finial added later. Measures 42 x 17 x 7 inches.
