Japy Freres & Cie French Bronze & Marble Clock: made in 2 pieces, the marble base is separate. The time and half hour bell striking movement is signed Japy Freres & Cie, Jx Deniere-1856. The 4 1/4″ porcelain dial is also signed Deniere Ft De Bronzes- A Paris. The case has a woman, books and scientific instruments on it.
(The dial has chips at the 60 minute mark and the right hand key slot.)

DESCRIPTION: Bronze mantle clock featuring a black patina throughout, gryphons on its sides holding scrolls; a crowned and haloed bust and toward its bottom; and foliage, scroll, and medallion designs at the top. Piece is embellished with marble inserts, crowned with an urn-form finial, and finished with gilt accents and trimmings. Marks on movement: "JAPY FRERES MED D'HONNEUR" and "7955". Pendulum and two keys included. From the estate of Palm Beach collector, Ronald Brown.
