A beautifully detailed and large three piece clock garniture; in white marble with a bronze dore finish, after the model by Clodion. 19th Century
The clock featuring four young bacchante figures, frolicking around a barrel shaped clock. The figures holding drinking vessels and surrounded by musical instruments. The white marble base rising on six substantial bronze feet and featuring inset bronze friezes of scrolling floral motifs and a central medallion of frolicking children. Back of bronze clock sculpture signed "Clodion".
Clock size – 21 inches to tip, 15 inches wide, 7 1/4 inches deep

A fine 19th century French gilt brass carriage clock with calendar in the manner of Abraham Louis Breguet
The Classically inspired case with folding bud handle and four bud finials on an engine turned ground over rosettes and reeded columns to a matching base on button feet, the white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals, minute track and blued steel trefoil hands over a subsidiary date dial within an engine turned mask, the movement with twin barrels driving a gilt platform with bimetallic balance to a lever escapement, the strike and repeat on a bell behind a shuttered rear panel. Together with an associated mid 19th century leather covered travel case and a double ended key. 16cms (6.25ins) high.

This carriage clock is closely modelled on the early travel clocks by the great Abraham Louis Breguet. Comparable examples by Breguet were sold in these rooms 11 December 2019, lot 106 (Breguet number 2889, circa 1804), lot 107 (Breguet number 4248, circa 1837) and lot 109 (Breguet number 2963, circa 1820).

A late 19th century French three piece clock garniture by A D Mougin, retailed by Clement Nimes, circa 1890. Having a 3″ (7.75cm) cream enamelled convex Arabic dial with floral swags, inscribed ‘Clement Nimes’, the two-train outside count wheel striking movement with A D Mougin exhibition stamp and number 4610, the case with cast laurel surmount over drum head housing between branches on a spreading base with serpentine front and shaped feet.10.75″ (27.5cm), together with a matching pair of two branch candlesticks of conforming design. 9″ (23cm) high
