Laurens Rupert, Amsterdam, Dutch Tall Case Clock w/ Complicated Calendar Dial & Alarm. The large brass dial measures 19.5 in. high x 13.25 in. wide, painted in the lower section with a scene of 2 men in a garden playing a mandolin and flute for 2 woman, has a 12 in. silvered chapter ring with black incised Roman hour numerals, 5 minute numbers outside and dial signed ÂLaurens Rupert, AmsterdamÂ; the engraved brass center of the dial has silvered sub seconds dial, fan shaped cutout to the left displaying the months with a painted figure and indicator stating the number of days in the month, to the right displays days of the week, aperture for date indicator inside of the seconds dial, arched cutout below displays moon phase dial and has a silvered alarm indicator disc on the center post. Quality brass weight driven movement has recoil escapement, 2 cupped bells with drop hammer strike at the top of the movement for separate alarm mechanism and passing half hour strike, count wheel strike mechanism strikes the hours on a coiled cathedral gong. Long steel pendulum rod with brass covered bob, iron time and strike weights with brass pulleys and brass covered alarm weight on the right side. The walnut case has an arched bonnet with filigree carved crest, inset side panels, missing side finials; the body has chamfered corners and fancy shaped door with ribbon, wreath and filigree carvings, gilt brass escutcheon mounted around the center glass exposing the pendulum bob and carved inverted corner corbels on the base. Case is refinished, has some looseness, minor losses and splits; clock dial and door resemble a ÂLaurens Rupert example found in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. 92 in. high x 22 in. wide x 11 in. deep.

Paulus Bramer Dutch Tall Case Clock. c.1757. Clock has an 11 in. silvered dial signed ÂPaulus Bramer, AmsterdamÂ, arched moon phase at the top, sub seconds dial with open date indicator in the center and days of the week displayed in the aperture below; brass weight driven movement strikes the hour and half hour, one on a high toned bell and the other on a low toned bell, long steel pendulum rod with brass covered bob and 2 brass covered weights with brass pulleys. In a tall walnut floor standing case with spun brass finials on the bonnet top with pierced carved panels over red cloth, turned columns on the corners and burled walnut thought the body and base of the case. In excellent running condition with a cleaned and enhanced original finish. 103 in. high x 24 in. wide x 14 in. deep.
