Congreve Rolling Ball Clock, (ProClocks Replica, made in China). Case has brass plates supported by turned brass posts with finials on the corners and brass feet which are threaded for balancing the clock and center finial at the top; 2 in. porcelain minutes dial, 1.5 in. sub hour and seconds dial indicating 20 seconds which is the amount of time it takes for the ball to travel from one side of the track to the other acting as the clocks pendulum; has a single cable fusee mechanism powering the clock which is in good running condition. Walnut base with inlaid sides and drawer front with cubed glass dome having gilt brass framework and an access door in the front. 18 in. high x 13.25 in. wide x 1.75 in. deep.

Late 20th century. A handcrafted "congreve" clock by accomplished clockmaker and collector Fred Kolishenko of Oakville, ON. Congreve clocks are named after Sir William Congreve, who claimed invention in 1808. The ball runs down the zigzag track tripping the escapement, which in turn reverses the tilt of the tray and causes the hands of the clock to move forward. 14 1/2 x 12 1/2 x 12". Brass Congreve Rolling Ball Mantle Clock. Case has brass plates supported by turned brass posts with pineapple finials on the corners and brass feet which are threaded for balancing the clock and large center finial at the top; silvered 4 in. chapter ring has black incised Roman hour numerals and blued hands. Double barrel & cable spring driven movement is engaged by a brass plate with a 15 row track on which a steel ball rolls down, when the ball reaches the end it triggers a lever which reverses the incline of the plate redirecting the ball back down the track; the track plate is set on a knife point edge at the top of a post centered on the bottom plate. Each row of the track registers one second which changes the incline of the track every 15 seconds or 4 times per minute. Silvered tag on the front pays tribute to the inventor Sir William Congreve, London; stands on a white marble slab with turned brass feet and under a glass dome with brass framework. In good working condition, hands are replaced, center finial is repaired, circa 20th century. 19 in. high x 16 in. wide x 10 in. deep.
