17th C. Thos. Loomes Brass Lantern Clock. 6.5 in. silvered dial signed ÂThomas Loomes at the Mermaid in LothburyÂ, has black Roman hour numerals, center silvered alarm indicator disc and engraved filigree on the brass back-plate, original steel hour hand (clock was designed without a minute hand); brass weight driven movement has an old recoil escapement, typically replacing the original primitive verge & crown wheel escapement with a modified pendulum crutch & bridge, has an half hour strike on a 5.25 in. iron bell exposed in the top dome of the case, conical iron weights and long steel pendulum rod with brass covered bob. In a beautiful brass case with pierced filigree gallery top, strapped dome with turned finial, turned corner columns and turned feet with brass plate, dust covers on the sides. On a carved wood wall bracket, clock is missing its chains and weight pulleys. 15.5 in. high.

An exceptional desk clock in the form of a lantern with 3 functioning sides, each having a 2.25 in. dial, The front dial for time with black roman numerals, one side is a fahrenheit and celsius thermometer, the other an aneroid barometer. The back door is to access the 8 day time only movement with a jeweled platform escapement; movement marked Bidlingmaier (Germany); replaced thermometer dial. 12 in. high

Thomas Mudge Brass Lantern Clock. Single chain fusee movement with bell on top and doors on all sides but the front. Floral decorated and signed dial. Mudge worked in England during the mid and late 18th century. This style of clock was going out of fashion in the mid 18th century. Clock is running at this time.
