Asa Munger Stovepipe American Shelf Clock: With an 8 day T&S movement; a painted steel dial with 2nds bit and the letters "GER' and "URN" (should read "Munger, Auburn"); a bell above the dial; the pendulum and weights. The case has stenciled stovepipe columns; carved acanthus leaf column tops; carved rosettes; a carved leaf and scroll crest and carved pineapple finials. The original mirrored glass is with the clock.

A 20th century Asa Munger style "Stovepipe" shelf clock. 8-day weight driven time and strike movement, painted iron dial with Roman numerals, seconds bit and "Flying Eagle" pendulum bob, dial marked "Asa Munger, Auburn, N. Y.". Mahogany case with carved crown flanked by Pineapple finials above an upper dial door and lower mirrored door flanked by stenciled tin columns which conceal the iron weights, all over a stepped, molded base with wallpaper on backboard and replica Munger label. Stamped on top of case "Restored 1961, F. C. Findley". Older finish with minor damage, tin columns over-varnished and difficult to remove, older dial re-painted, running when cataloged. 40 1/2" high overall. ESTIMATE $4,000-6,000

Fine & Rare Asa Munger Stovepipe Shelf Clock, Auburn, NY. Grained mahogany case; nice, warm, original patina. Stenciled & painted tapered stovepipe metal pillars, gold leafed and stenciled with fruit compotes and foliage. Carved capitals, applied circular rosettes, carved crest and pineapple finials. The painting includes portraits of Henry Clay and Robert Fulton, with canal villages below. Original painted iron dial. Original mirror. 8 day time & strike weight driven brass movement with second bit hand; hammer dated 1832. Wallpaper background. Flying eagle pendulum. Ht. 39 1/2″. Ex Peter Zaharis Collection. A 19th century shelf clock, possibly by Asa Munger. 30 hr time and strike weight driven wooden movement with painted wooden dial. Mahogany case with shaped crown and carved Pineapple finials above carved half columns and a single door with clear and reverse painted lower glasses, flanked by stenciled half columns on carved paw feet. Partial old wallpaper in back. Older finish in fair condition, minor wear, some veneer damage, lacks hands, weights and pendulum. 35 1/2″ high.
