19th Century French Alabaster 'Cherub on a Swing' Mantle Clock Farcot was a French maker who patented a special form of anchor escapement in 1862 so that the pendulum swung backwards and forwards rather than side to side. Ht. 13 3/4 in. x 10 3/4 x 4 3/8 in. Purchased Late 70ís LA study group, Jim Cipra. The collection of Dr. William Thomas, Naples, Florida.

A gilt metal French clock with 8 day spring wind Paris-type movement stamped ECHAPPEMENT BREVETE ( patented escapement ), the skeleton plate movement visible through the enamel dial chapter ring with roman numerals. Rococo swirl supports each side of a cherub on swing pendulum, glass dome cover with repair. Measures 14 x 11.5 x 6 inches.

A late 19th century French "Cherub on a Swing" mantel clock by Eugene Farcot. 8-day time only skeletonized movement with porcelain chapter ring and Roman numerals has a Farcot patent swinger escapement with double escape wheel, and cast pendulum with Cherub, movement signed, "Chappement Brevete" with Eagle Trademark, serial #60261. Scrolled Brass supports with Copper and Gilded finish on a Black wooden base with glass dome. Some wear, dome replaced, running when cataloged. 9 3/4" high. ESTIMATE $400-600

French Alabaster Lyre Mantle Clock. 5 in. porcelain dial with black Arabic numbers, hanging floral garland and fancy pierced hands, signed Renoir; rhinestone studded bezel is attached to the gridiron pendulum and swings when the clock is running. Has a typical, round, French, brass movement, strikes on a silvered bell and is signed A.D. Mougin. In a white alabaster lyre shaped case with gilt brass mounts, beaded edges a wreath at the crest and hanging garland at the top and base. In very good condition with no breaks, crack or repairs to the case. 20 in. high x 9 in. wide x 6 in. deep.

French To-and-Fro Swing Clock w/White Alabaster Case: the time and bell striking movement is marked Chappement Breuete, 34 and 34864. The ring dial with visible escapement is 4 1/4″ wide.
(Winds okay, but runs sporatically; there are some small chips on the case; the crossbar to support the swinger has been repaired.)
