19th century Austrian mantel clock with gilded gesso over wood case, decorated with foliate and a bird surmounted on an urn, 7-inch porcelain dial with cast brass hands, 8-day brass "Japy Freres" movement having rack and snail bell strike and platform escapement, gilding has darkened with parts of gesso missing, rear door is a replacement, runs a few minutes before stopping, strike functional. 28 in. high x 18 in. wide x 6 in. deep.

A rare mid 19th century Austrian brass strut clock with automaton by Adolf Uhlig, Vienna (active 1833-1858). Having a white-enamelled oval Roman dial with minute band, inscribed “ADOLF UHLIG IN WIEN”, with moon hands, between a pair of finely-worked cherub automata, each standing atop a pedestal with articulated raised arm striking a hammer against a bell, the chain-driven verge fusee movement with foliage scroll-pierced balance cock and silvered Avance/Retard wheel, the case with bevelled oval glazing and fine foliate-engraved hinged bezel, fixed rear panel and pinned easel strut support, 4.75″, (12cm) high excluding handle.
