Large Figural Clock of Monk with Beer Stein. The polychromed spelter sculpture in the form of a laughing Monk leaning back on a chair and holding a large beer stein on his lap. The beer stein has a figural Bacchus head facing left and the clock facing forward. The clock has a 3.5 inch porcelain dial with 8 day time & strike movement. The movement is signed Blot & Drouard & Jappe Freres and is running, bell strike functions. Missing pendulum. Dimensions: 26.5 in. high x 15 in. wide x 9.5 in. deep. Weight: 29.75 lbs.

This exceptional clock is an elevator clock which was crafted around 1960. This rare piece is equipped with two clock faces arranged on both sides. The clock is set in an elevator cabin, running down a rack. Its running duration is about a week. The clock is wound by pushing the cabin back up. Its enamel clock face has a dial above indicating seconds. Underneath its main clock face has Roman numerals and blue tempered hands. Beneath it shows imitations of day- and calendar indication. On the back it has a brass clock face with enamel hour indications and blue tempered hands. The clock is set on a black marble plinth decorated with brass chains.
The clock is throughout in very good condition with minimal signs of age and wear. It runs fine during short term test; but no long term precision and regularity can be guaranteed. Its dimensions are 56 x 30 x 22 cm (height x width x depth). (lez)
