Elmer O. Stennes 1 Only Oak Weight Driven Wall Clock. Original 7 in. painted metal dial signed “Elmer O. Stennes No. 1” & “M.C.I. Plymouth, 1972” (Massachusetts Correctional Institute), has black Roman hour numerals and brass open moon hands; brass 8 day weight driven time only movement signed “Elmer O. Stennes, Mass.” has a long steel pendulum rod with brass covered bob, brass lock-down hardware on the painted wood weight baffle, brass pulley and lead stamped No. “8” weight. In a beautiful oak case with overhanging cornice top, round glass over the dial, original reverse painted red, black and gold leaf throat glass and tablet glass exposing the pendulum bob; case is stamped “1 Only, M.C.I.P., 1972” (Massachusetts Correctional Institute in Prison). In excellent condition and original finish, movement is running. This clock was given by Elmer Stennes to his wife Phyllis Means Stennes as a one of a kind piece under the promise that she would never sell it; the clock was then sold to the consignor, the second owner, by Mrs. Stennes in an effort to help raise money to pay for the treatment of her gunshot wounds. 28 in. high x 11.5 in. wide x 5.5 in. deep.
